Granite Work Tops
Granite is hard igneous stone that is formed over millions of years by volcanic activity. Magma flows from volcanic activity and slowly cools over millions of years. During the process, magma combines with various minerals including Hornblend, feldspar, mica and quartz to create its "crystal appearance". The elements are compressed by forces deep within the earth's surface. As softer earthen material surrounding granite deposits eroded over time, hard granite became exposed creating quarries of granite.
The natural properties of Granite mean you can have a wide variety of grain pattern and colour in one given slab and no two slabs are exactly the same, we feel this is one of the beauties about natural stone and why it continues to be very popular.
If you countertop requires more than one slab we will pick the best possible match so achieved the work surface your kitchen deserves.
From Quarry to your Kitchen
Quartz countertops contain crushed quartz which like Granite has been formed over millions of years. However it is then crushed and mixed with resin in a ratio of 93% quartz to 7% resin.
It is manufactured in a variety of different patterns and colours which is growing year on year.
Quartz countertops are just as strong as granite but have the added benefit of being more flexible in that the pattern is consistent from slab to slab unlike granite which can vary from one Slab to the other. It is also non-porous and does not require any sealing – ever. These stones offer a virtually no-maintenance material solution for countertops.
We are agents for 3 of the main Quartz manufactures in Europe.

A little info on Galaxy Black
Black Galaxy granite is undoubtedly one of the world's most popular and successful granites and has been exported to every continent. It is a fine to medium-grained, black gabbro with golden-yellow sparkling broncite scales which give a gold sparkle through the deep black base all the way through the slab.
The quarrying area is Chimakurthi, Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, South India (approx. 350 km north of Chennai) where one would find about 50 Galaxy quarries however not all operate 12 months of the year.
The original Black Galaxy quarry was opened early 1980s and is still known to this day as Star Galaxy Granite. The myth that Japanese businessmen discovered Black Galaxy granite in 1989 is completely erroneous since quarrying had already been under way for several years! When other Indian quarrying companies saw the success this one quarry company had with this material it started a rush for quarrying licences in the Ongole area. There are now many Black Galaxy quarries, some are small family run operations of a couple of acres and some are very large, commercial enterprises with many employees over twenty acres. Obtaining accurate figures of those directly employed in Galaxy quarrying production and processing in the Ongole area is difficult however estimates put it at around 20,000 in the quarries and 12,500 people in the local processing plants with maybe another 5,000 in support industries.
